In September 2022 Gaby founded El Castillete, the first independent artist’s residency in Madrid, Spain.

El Castillete is an artist-centric project by nature. Everything about it has been designed in detail to offer an enriching professional experience to young contemporary artists from all around the world. Gaby has created a space and a program where residents can live, think, experiment and produce work within a one-month period. The organization is committed on bringing artists from diverse cultures into Spain and provide them with the opportunity to immerse and inspire themselves with the culture and history that surrounds us.

El Castillete was born out of and it is driven by the love of art. As an entity, we live by the moments of collaboration, helping, inspiring and engaging with the artists and the art community. El Castillete is named after the home Armando Reverón built with his own hands in Macuto, a small coast town very close to the city where Gaby was born. Reverón is considered one of the most interesting Venezuelan painters, and our very own “impressionist of the tropic”. El Castillete became his sacred place of creation, where painting was a ritual and the place where all his unlimited artistic fantasies became real.
